Evolution of multicellularity, bet hedging and microbial cooperation Graduate students Personnel Parimala Devi (left) obtained her MS in Bioinformatics is 2015, and did research in our lab on: 1) Determining the molecular basis of multicellular traits in experimentally-evolved S. cerevisiae and C.reinhardtii. 2) Developing a pipeline for the whole genome SNP discovery and analysis of variants in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the alga Chlamydomonas reinhardti., She is now a bioinformatician at the University of Washington in David Crosslin’s lab. Leslie Townsell (right) completed a MS at Clark Atlanta University, doing her research in our lab. Her project focused on the fitness consequences of sexual reproduction during the transition to multicellularity. Parimala Devi Leslie Townsell
